2011 Kia Sportage AWD Cute and Zippy>

Ladies…you don’t have to be an off-round enthusiast to appreciate the added safety and performance of all-wheel drive (AWD), especially when it comes packaged in a cute and zippy crossover like the 2011 Kia Sportage AWD.

The new Sportage AWD is offered in three trims — LX, EX, or SX edition —with two different engine choices and a long list of available options. So you can configure your Sportage to suit your personality — from frugal and simple, to sporty and stylish. All three models come surprisingly packed with great features.

Inside, the 2011 Kia Sportage AWD makes you feel like you’re sitting in a vehicle that costs more than its $22,300 starting sticker price. Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and Sirius satellite radio all come standard. If you can’t live without a navigation system, heated power exterior mirrors, push-button start or a backup warning system, simply add them on to personalize your Sportage crossover.

Both the LX and EX models come with the 176-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A turbo-charged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 260 horsepower powers the higher-end Sportage SX. That’s a lot of get-up-and-go for a crossover of this size and weight. LX and EX trims are EPA rated at 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway, while the sportier turbo-boosted SX is rated at 21 city and 25 highway mpg.

The 2011 Sportage AWD is a good-looking alternative to the sea of standard currently flowing through the crossover segment. When you do stop for gas, you can take a moment to admire just how attractive this Korean-made cruiser really is. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the LX outfitted with its 16-inch wheels or the EX and SX with their sexy 18-inch alloys, the Sportage boasts serious style and is equally comfortable on the freeway or on the back roads.

Compared to other crossovers in its class, however, the Sportage comes a little short in cargo space, with 26.1 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 54.6 cubes with the 60/40-split-folding seats folded flat. That’s still plenty of room to transport a major shopping spree. Bottom line is, the 2011 Kia Sportage AWD is a good-looking vehicle with a wide array of optional features.
