2011 Volkswagen Touareg Easy to Love, Hard to Say>

Would you ever date a guy named Touareg? Well, you might if he looked as solid and fit as the freshly updated crossover from Volkswagen. While the name (sounds like “twar-egg”) takes some getting used to, the 2011 Touareg is certainly easy to love…and it’s a joy to drive.

Compared to the previous model, the new 2011 Volkswagen Touareg features sleek new lines and exotic materials, making it lighter, more fuel-efficient, and flat out better looking. And yes, good looks matter. You want to take pride in your ride when pull up to the valet parking service at the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons Hotel.

In achieving the Touareg’s aesthetic improvements, VW engineers did not diminish its muscle and handling prowess. A 3.6-liter V6 FSI gasoline engine comes standard, offering 280 horsepower and decent mileage at 16 city, and 23 mpg highway. Touareg is also available with an optional 3.0-liter turbo V6 TDI Clean Diesel engine (225 horses) that delivers a class-leading 19 city / 28 highway miles per gallon. Both engines provide a whopping 7,700 lbs. of towing capacity when equipped with VW’s factory-installed tow package.

A new aluminum double wishbone suspension helped reduce the weight of the Touareg (it’s 350 lbs. lighter than the 2010), allowing the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system to work even more efficiently than before. So in the event that the road to Nordstrom or Home Depot should suddenly receive a foot of snow, you and your Touareg will be able to beat everyone to the big sale.

And you will travel in comfort along the way. The Touareg’s interior has also been refined. Front and rear passengers now have greater legroom plus fully adjustable seats. Rear seatbacks fold down with ease to accommodate large cargo. The 2011 model’s cabin is quieter, and the optional new panoramic sunroof offers three times the view of the previous model year.

The Touareg Sport comes standard with Volkswagen’s new premium touch screen radio-navigation system. It features an eight-inch screen, with a DVD/CD player, MP3 capability and Satellite/FM/AM stereo, with 18GB available to upload media. Additional standard features include rearview camera, power-adjust and heated front seats in V-Tex leatherette, Bluetooth connectivity and more.

This handsome German made crossover has got it all, including advanced safety features. You and your passengers will be shielded by six airbags: dual front airbags, thorax airbags for the driver, and Side Curtain airbags for front and rear passengers. With three different trim levels (Sport, Lux and Executive) you can outfit your Touareg with just about any automotive feature your heart desires. And fall in love.
