2012 Cadillac CTS Sporty Sex Appeal>

Not long ago, the mention of the Cadillac brand conjured up images of big long, luxury boats that drove like couches on wheels. But these days, Cadillac makes some extremely sporty and powerful coupes, crossovers, and sport sedans – like the 2012 CTS. The female auto experts at HerHighway were delighted to have the 2012 CTS in our possession for an extended, pampered, hold-on-to-your-hat test drive.

Although the CTS family includes some models with ridiculously fast and powerful V-8s, our little beauty came equipped with a 3.6-liter V6. Paired with Cadillac’s 6-speed automatic transmission, the V6 produced plenty of pick up with its 318 quietly humming horses. Unlike the caddies of old, our CTS gets great gas mileage for a car of this stature, rated at 18 mpg for city driving and up to 27 mpg on the highway. And ladies, trust us, this sexy machine whips around curves and corners as if it were riding on rails!

Of course, on the inside, this new CTS comes through with all the luxury and high-tech items you’d expect from Cadillac. We rocked out to the Bose Surround System stereo as the sun shined in through the massive Ultraview Sunroof. The navigation system was intuitive, the Bluetooth phone connection worked flawlessly, and just about every adjustment you can think of — seats, door locks, sideview mirrors, etc. — can be fine-tuned with the touch of a button. And that’s important, because we wouldn’t want you to chip or bend a nail. Plus the trunk was plenty big to swallow up a full day’s worth of retail recreation.

Outfitted with the Touring Package, our CTS cradled us in supportive leather Recaro sport seats, and we loved the soft touch of the suede covered steering wheel and shift knob. Interior details were elegantly finished too, including the rich Sapele wood trim and stylish metal brake and gas pedals. We all agreed that the gas pedal was more fun, but the sophisticated anti-lock braking system also served us well on many occasions.

On the outside, the CTS has artfully sculpted, aerodynamic lines, complemented by high-quality trim accents and components. We liked the looks of the HID headlights and front fog lamps, dual exhaust system and chrome door handles. The dark finish front grille creates a contemporary look, and the 19-inch polished alloy wheels complete the package like the perfect pair of shoes.

On par with the luxurious amenities of the CTS is the extensive list of safety features. As a top safety pick of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the CTS surrounds you with front and side impact airbags, front and rear head curtain side airbags, a rear-view camera system, child security real door locks, and a factory installed theft deterrent system.

From bumper to bumper, we think the new 2012 Cadillac CTS is one rocking and stylish ride. Learn more about it, including available colors, trim packages and pricing by clicking here.
